Time and time again, I've been hit up on the topic of programmers providing horrible code examples to learn from.
The best code examples consist of a full and working, copy-able code that is well-commented, detailing every last bit of what a noob needs to know to duplicate or modify your example.
But many people can't seem to provide this, instead, they'd rather have you reading paragraphs upon paragraphs of horribly structured literature that could more be aimed towards book-writers rather than programmers. By the time you get to the part you need to understand, you're confused out of your mind and completely bored of the documentation, not even willing to work on your code anymore.
Python's official documentation is a very good example of this I don't even bother reading poor documentation like that.
Something I deal with is people who want to help me but don't want to "do my work for me" for the reason of "spoon-feeding their code to me" with the excuse of "people don't learn from examples that are provided to them".
Ihat excuse is the developer's choice, and they have no right at their attempts to control that, I preferably tend to learn from examples provided to me as I prefer to (by habit) improve the horrible poorly documented and overly complex examples and provide my own examples from them.
As far as spoon-feeding their code to me, how else do you expect one to learn how to use something when trying to understand the documentation is like trying to understand Assembly Language. I'm trying to write Python, not Assembly, Python can't run Assembly, so teach me how to use Python and stop telling me how to use Assembly.
And if they were doing my work for me, they'd be involved in alot more outrageous complexity with the project I'm trying to work on... I'm trying to understand how to do something so I can finish my project, how else do you expect me to understand if you don't show me what I need to understand w/o referring me to the trash and garbage I can't understand.
I learn by you showing me how to do something, not by you telling me how to do something.
Advice: if you can find someone who's willing to help you, drop the douche and go to that person, if you can't... then my advice would be to stroll the internet for places to ask and try to get some solution to your problem if you can't figure it out.
feel free to pass this around and knock some common sense into some of those mindless inconsiderate douches out there.

Heh, I've seen people refer to Python as having good documentation.

alright I'll give Python credit in the fact that at least they list most of the needed information needed. but the documentation still lacks alot of good examples. (the examples don't provide a user with everything to follow from, and thus makes things very confusing)
I guess a better example would be Python-Pillow, which you'll find out more useful information by posting issues. (such as the YCbCr pixel format being for jpeg only) and the provided examples being for something other than your intents, thus being useless or not providing what you need.

Oh, I agree. Python docs feels like reading a dictionary.
