I can't even begin to mention the amount of IDE's that boast about having "intellisense" when all they really have is a tiny menu that shows you the methods and variables contained in a class when you hit the dot '.' operator... (this means IDLE has intellisense guys, only in the shell window though) no, real intellisense also has an informational side (called code-insight) that tells you much more than the methods contained in a class... this is typically done in the form of tooltips, but other IDEs such as WingWare display this information in another window of the IDE. for example, in python, it tells you: - for functions: the object types accepted and returned by the function: - for variables: the object types held in the variable at that given moment in the code. so to clear that up: auto-completion < intellisenseEDIT: btw, just to note, if you have IronPython installed, PyTools will use it over the traditional python interpreter. so re.compile() displays RE_Pattern instead of SRE_Pattern.
